Resizing changes the number of pixels in an image. Compression changes how those pixels are encoded to reduce file size. A smaller canvas often produces a smaller file, but output format, quality, transparency, and image detail also affect the final size.

Which image formats can I resize?
You can resize JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and BMP files when your browser can decode the BMP variant.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Your image is resized locally with your browser's Canvas APIs and is never uploaded.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing?
Resizing changes pixel dimensions. Compressing mainly changes how efficiently image data is stored, often without changing width or height.
Can I preserve the original proportions?
Yes. Maintain aspect ratio is enabled by default and automatically updates the other custom dimension.
Can I resize an image for social media?
Yes. One-click presets cover common Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Open Graph, X, and other image sizes.
Why is the quality slider hidden for PNG?
PNG export uses lossless browser encoding and does not use the JPG or WebP quality setting.
What happens to transparency with JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white during export.
