What is image compression?

Are my images uploaded?
No. Your image is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded.
Why can a compressed image become larger?
A high quality setting, lossless PNG output, or conversion from an efficient source format can produce a larger file. Try WebP or JPG, lower the quality, or reduce the dimensions.
What happens to transparency when I choose JPG?
JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are placed on a white background.
Does changing dimensions preserve the aspect ratio?
Yes by default. You can turn off Maintain aspect ratio if you intentionally need a different shape.
