Crop, rotate and flip images safely

Cropping removes unwanted pixels and changes framing, while rotation changes orientation without resizing the selected content. Use an aspect ratio for consistent composition, then rotate or flip the crop when the source needs a different orientation. Unlike resizing, cropping does not stretch the remaining pixels.

Square and portrait

Use 1:1 for profile images and square posts, or 4:5 for portrait social posts.

Landscape and video

Use 16:9 for thumbnails, video, presentations and many website hero images.

Stories and vertical media

Use 9:16 for stories, reels and other full-height mobile content.

Private, local image editing

Your image is decoded, cropped, transformed and exported locally in your browser. Kivrum does not upload it or send it to an external processing API.

Image editing FAQ

Are my images uploaded?

No. Cropping, rotation, flipping and export happen locally with browser Canvas APIs.

What is the difference between cropping and resizing?

Cropping removes pixels outside a selected area. Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of the whole image.

Does rotation change the crop coordinates?

The crop is selected from the original image first, then rotation and flips are applied accurately to that cropped area.

Can I preserve transparency?

PNG and WebP preserve transparency where supported. JPG fills transparent areas with white.

Which crop ratio should I use?

Use 1:1 for square profiles, 4:5 for portrait posts, 16:9 for video and landscape media, or 9:16 for stories and vertical video.

Why can the result be larger?

File size also depends on output format, quality, transparency and image detail, so a cropped file is not guaranteed to be smaller.
