What is image resizing?
Image resizing changes the pixel width and height of a picture. Reducing dimensions can make an image easier to publish, share, and display responsively, while enlarging creates more pixels for a required canvas size. Kivrum redraws the image locally with high-quality browser interpolation and never uploads the source file.
How to resize an image
- 1. Add a JPG, PNG, WebP, or browser-supported BMP image.
- 2. Enter dimensions, choose a percentage, or apply a ready preset.
- 3. Select the output format, resize, compare, and download.
Resize vs compress
Resizing changes the number of pixels in an image. Compression changes how those pixels are encoded to reduce file size. A smaller canvas often produces a smaller file, but output format, quality, transparency, and image detail also affect the final size.
Best image sizes for popular platforms
Platform layouts change over time, so confirm current publishing requirements before a campaign. These practical presets cover widely used canvas sizes and are ready inside the resizer.
1080×1080 square, 1080×1350 portrait, or 1080×1920 story

Image resizing for website optimization
Serve images close to their rendered dimensions instead of asking a browser to shrink oversized originals. Matching the content area reduces unnecessary pixel data, while JPG or WebP quality controls can further reduce photographic files. Keep PNG when lossless detail or transparency is important, and test the result at the size visitors will actually see.
Avoid oversized assets
Resize source images to the largest dimensions your layout needs.
Preserve proportions
Keep aspect ratio enabled to prevent accidental stretching.
Choose the right format
Use JPG or WebP for photos and PNG for lossless graphics or transparency.
Private, local image resizing
Your image is resized locally in your browser and is never uploaded. Canvas drawing, preview generation, and download creation stay on your device, and temporary object URLs are released when they are replaced or no longer needed.

Image resizer FAQ
